The Northern Senators Forum has raised alarm over the abduction of 42 students and children from GDSS Mussa in Askira-Uba Local Government Area of Borno State, warning that Nigeria must not witness “another Chibok tragedy.”
In a strongly worded statement on Monday, the forum’s chairman, Abdulaziz Musa Yar’adua, described the attack as a devastating blow to education and security in Northern Nigeria, while urging the Federal Government and security agencies to launch urgent rescue operations.
The senators said the continued targeting of schools by armed groups threatens the future of children in the region and deepens fears among parents and communities already traumatized by years of insurgency.
“We must not allow this incident to become another prolonged tragedy like the Chibok abduction,” the statement said, stressing that the abducted children must be rescued without delay.
The forum also called for stronger protection of schools and coordinated action to prevent further mass abductions in the North.
