Former Imo State Governor, Achike Udenwa, has warned political actors against using attacks on Peter Obi to divide Ndigbo, declaring that prominent supporters of the 2027 presidential hopeful are ready to break their silence.
Udenwa said the fact that Obi’s supporters had remained quiet should not be interpreted as a sign of abandonment, insisting that many influential figures were backing the former Anambra governor’s presidential ambition.
“The fact that we have chosen to remain silent does not mean we are not behind him,” he said.

The former governor expressed anger over comments he said had come from some government officials in Anambra and Ebonyi states, warning that the attacks must stop.
He cautioned politicians against turning disagreements over candidates into personal insults or attempts to create divisions among the Igbo.
“You are free to support your preferred candidate without insulting others. We are not going to allow anyone to divide Ndigbo for selfish interests,” Udenwa declared.
In a revelation about Obi’s political consultations, Udenwa said he was among prominent figures from the South-East who accompanied the presidential hopeful on a tour across Nigeria, where they met notable personalities in the six geopolitical zones.
Udenwa said his decision to speak out was not driven by a fresh political ambition, stressing that he had no intention of seeking another elective office.
“I don’t want to contest for any election again. I am 100 per cent qualified, but because we want a better Nigeria, that is why we want Mr Peter Obi to become President of Nigeria,” he said.
He added that some supporters who had previously kept their positions private were now prepared to make their voices heard.
The former governor’s intervention brings a sharper tone to the debate over Obi’s 2027 ambition, with Udenwa warning that political rivalry must not be allowed to fuel hostility or deepen divisions among Ndigbo.
