Yar’adua Applauds Ida’s Appointment as CAC Chairman, Signals Confidence in Reform Drive

Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’adua has welcomed the appointment of Senator Dr. Ibrahim Ida as Chairman of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), expressing optimism that the move will strengthen Nigeria’s corporate regulatory framework.
Ida’s emergence, approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is already being viewed in policy circles as a strategic step toward repositioning the commission at a time when regulatory efficiency and investor confidence remain key priorities.
In a congratulatory message, Yar’adua—who represents Katsina Central and chairs the Senate Committee on Army—described the new CAC chairman as a seasoned public servant with the capacity to deliver. He cited Ida’s time in the 6th Senate (2007–2011), his stewardship as Commissioner of Finance in Katsina State, and his experience as a Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service as indicators of his readiness for the role.
“Your wealth of experience and dedication to service stand you in good stead for this important national assignment,” Yar’adua said, voicing confidence that Ida would bring renewed focus, discipline, and innovation to the commission’s operations.
He further assured the new chairman of legislative backing, stressing that collaboration between the National Assembly and key regulatory institutions like the CAC is essential for driving sustainable economic growth.
Ida, who holds an MSc in Banking and Finance from the University of Ibadan and an LLB from the University of Abuja, steps into the role at a time when expectations are high for reforms that will simplify business processes, improve compliance systems, and enhance transparency.
With his combined expertise in law, finance, and governance, analysts believe his leadership could help modernize the CAC and position it as a more responsive and investor-friendly institution—one capable of supporting Nigeria’s evolving business landscape.
