The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has introduced a new system allowing candidates seeking admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions to upload and verify their O’Level results from home.
Under the new arrangement, candidates will no longer have to visit Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres solely to upload their Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) results.
JAMB said it would verify candidates’ results directly with the examination bodies, beginning with the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), before the results are added to their profiles.
The Board’s Acting Director, Public Affairs and Protocol, Dr Fabian Benjamin, announced the development in a statement issued in Abuja on Monday.
Benjamin said the initiative was part of JAMB’s effort to make its services easier, faster, safer and more convenient through technology.
He said the integration of JAMB’s e-Facility platform with examination bodies would allow candidates’ results to be checked against official records before being downloaded into their profiles.
The new system is also expected to reduce problems linked to manual result uploads, including misplaced documents, fraudulent or unverified results and errors in entering subjects and grades.
JAMB said the arrangement would also reduce pressure on CBT centres, particularly during periods of high patronage, while helping candidates avoid long queues.
Candidates are required to visit the JAMB platform, enter their National Identification Number (NIN) and select the number of examination sittings and the relevant examination body.
They will then provide their email address and GSM number and pay the verification fee through a debit card or bank transfer.
Candidates will also be required to enter their examination number, examination series and examination year for verification.
JAMB said the new process would strengthen the verification of O’Level results while making admission-related services more accessible to candidates.
