President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.
Enitan will resume on August 27, 2026. He will replace Didi Esther Walson-Jack, who is retiring after reaching the mandatory retirement age of 60.
Enitan is from Osun State and currently serves as Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Education. He is also the most senior Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service.
He has served as a Permanent Secretary for seven years and seven months. He previously worked at the Ministry of Police Affairs, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and the Office of the Vice President.
The Presidency said Enitan has vast experience and a good knowledge of the Federal Civil Service.
Tinubu thanked Walson-Jack for her service and contributions to reforms in the Civil Service. He also wished her well in retirement.
The President charged Enitan to continue with ongoing reforms and promote professionalism, efficiency, accountability and innovation.
He also asked him to build a more effective Civil Service that can support the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Enitan was born on December 12, 1966. He studied Finance and Banking at the University of Lagos and graduated in 1988.
He later obtained a master’s degree in Public Policy Analysis from Nasarawa State University, Lafia, in 2015.
