The Women Parliament of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has declared that the official recognition of Prince Adewole Adebayo as the party’s presidential candidate by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has set the stage for an intensified nationwide mobilisation ahead of the next presidential election.
National Speaker of the SDP Women Parliament, Ambassador Hajiya Sa’adatu Abdullahi, said the publication of Adebayo’s name by INEC marks a defining moment in the party’s quest to present Nigerians with what she described as a credible and principled alternative to the country’s current political leadership.
In a statement issued in Abuja, Abdullahi said the inclusion of Adebayo and his running mate, Dr. Usman Mohammed Bugaje, on INEC’s official list reflects the party’s commitment to internal democracy and constitutional processes.
She said the development has boosted the confidence of party members and supporters, expressing optimism that the SDP is well-positioned to mount a strong electoral challenge with a leadership agenda anchored on good governance, social justice, economic growth and the rule of law.

According to her, Adebayo possesses the integrity, competence and vision needed to confront Nigeria’s mounting economic and security challenges while restoring public confidence in governance.
The SDP women leader also commended INEC for conducting the nomination process in a transparent and impartial manner, describing the exercise as another step towards strengthening Nigeria’s democratic process.
She urged women, youths and party faithful across the country to seize the momentum created by the recognition of the party’s ticket by intensifying grassroots engagement, expanding membership and promoting issue-based campaigns centred on national development.
Abdullahi said the increasing support for the SDP reflects Nigerians’ growing appetite for a political platform built on accountability, inclusiveness and service to the people.
She also appealed to Nigerians to pray for Adebayo, asking God to grant him wisdom, sound health and divine guidance as he prepares for the challenges of the presidential race.
The statement reaffirmed the commitment of the SDP Women Parliament to mobilising women nationwide in support of the party’s programmes and its presidential ticket, expressing confidence that the movement would play a pivotal role in the party’s electoral campaign.
