***Condemns Attack on Senator Karimi
The Kogi Equity Alliance (KEA) has drawn a firm line on the state’s 2027 governorship contest, insisting that power rotation is “non-negotiable” and warning that any attempt to block Kogi West from producing the next governor would threaten peace and stability.
Addressing reporters in Abuja, KEA leaders said the group is committed to defending what they described as the “democratic right” of Kogi West, which has been excluded from the governorship for over three decades. “Equity is not a suggestion or a concession. It is a right — and KEA will see it delivered without compromise,” the group declared.
KEA outlined its mission around four pillars: advocacy, research, equity, and governance, emphasizing evidence-based action and principled leadership over manipulation or intimidation.
The group also condemned a violent attack on Distinguished Senator Sunday Karimi during a public event in Lokoja, calling it an assault on democracy itself. One of the senator’s supporters sustained serious head injuries in the incident. “This was not just an attack on Senator Karimi. It was an attack on free expression, justice, and every Kogi citizen who believes in peaceful political engagement,” KEA said.
The alliance warned that political dominance and entitlement have no place in Kogi politics. KEA vowed to back only arrangements rooted in fairness, insisting, “Kogi West’s turn is not a plea or negotiation — it is a democratic right whose time has come.”
KEA urged citizens to reject intimidation and manipulation, stressing that sidelining any district jeopardizes the credibility and stability of the state. “To suppress equity is to destabilize the entire state. KEA will not be silenced, bought, or threatened,” the statement read.
Closing the briefing, the alliance reaffirmed its guiding philosophy: “Justice for one is stability for all. Equity strengthens the entire state. After 34 years of exclusion, the moment for Kogi West has arrived — and KEA will defend it to the end.”
