CUPP Disowns Alleged Endorsement of Tinubu’s Infrastructure Claims

***Blames APC for Nigeria’s Woes

The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has disowned a media report alleging that it endorsed the performance of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration in the area of infrastructure, particularly the Abuja–Lokoja–Benin highways.

In a statement signed by the Chairman of its Media Committee, Barrister Chukwudi Ezeobika, the Coalition described the purported endorsement as false, misleading and unauthorised, accusing certain elements within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) government of attempting to undermine the CUPP’s consistent criticism of the administration’s poor governance record.

Ezeobika said the Coalition did not authorise or sanction any inspection of road projects or statements suggesting satisfaction with the Tinubu government’s performance.

“The Coalition strongly disassociates itself from the publication and views it as a deliberate attempt by certain elements within the APC government to misrepresent and undermine our position on the worsening economic and social conditions in Nigeria,” he stated.

The CUPP expressed deep concern over what it called the deplorable state of basic infrastructure across the country, noting that the failure of the Tinubu administration to rehabilitate critical highways had worsened insecurity and caused avoidable deaths through road accidents and kidnappings.

According to the statement, the administration’s “massive but uncontrolled external borrowings” have not translated into visible improvements in roads, health, education, electricity or security.

Ezeobika further described the current government as “the worst democratic administration Nigeria has witnessed since the return to civilian rule in 1999,” accusing President Tinubu of stifling democracy and undermining the rule of law.

The Coalition reiterated its commitment to holding the ruling party accountable and defending democratic values in the country.
