***Rolls Out 40 Solar-Powered Water Schemes, Smart Streetlights, Markets, Empowerment Initiatives

Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has marked her second anniversary in office with an unprecedented rollout of infrastructure and empowerment projects across the five local government areas of Kogi Central, turning what was once a promise of purposeful representation into visible progress on the ground.
The anniversary celebrations, which began on Thursday, opened with the commissioning of a 50,000-litre solar-powered water reticulation system in Ganaja and solar-powered smart streetlights in Adogo, both in Ajaokuta Local Government Area—projects aimed at improving access to clean water and boosting security through sustainable energy.
On Friday, the momentum continued in Okene, Okehi, and Adavi, where the Senator unveiled a 20,000-litre capacity borehole in Okene, a 50,000-litre solar-powered water system in Okaito (Okehi), and additional community water projects across the axis.
Strategic communities such as Obangede, Eika, Kuroko, Ajaokuta Village, Nagazi, Oro Layout, Ebogogo, Adogo, Ebiya, Ogaminana, Geregu, Elete, Ajaokuta Township, Iruvusechi, and Eika Ohizenyi also witnessed the illumination of solar-powered smart streetlights, creating safer, more vibrant night-time environments for residents and businesses.
So far, 40 solar-powered water projects have been completed under her watch—each designed to meet the pressing needs of rural dwellers and reduce the burden of water scarcity that has plagued the senatorial district for decades.
Beyond the visible infrastructure, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s anniversary is also a celebration of empowerment and innovation. She is set to commission smart markets, a primary healthcare centre, modern school facilities, and a series of community-based development projects across the five LGAs.
In what she describes as “a people-first development drive,” the Senator has also lined up a broad empowerment programme that includes the distribution of electric vehicles and business tools to youth, artisans, and women to enhance mobility, productivity, and economic independence.
Her office says the initiatives are not isolated gestures but part of a deliberate strategy to stimulate local enterprise, promote sustainability, and strengthen self-reliance across the region.
Community leaders and residents have hailed the projects as “proof that leadership can work,” praising the Senator for “delivering what others only promised.”
As the weeklong events continue, the air in Kogi Central is charged with optimism — a reflection of how far the district has come under Senator Natasha’s watch, and a preview of the inclusive growth she envisions for the years ahead.
“This is not just about marking two years in office,” one constituent said. “It’s about celebrating a turning point — the moment our communities began to feel the impact of real representation.”
