The Federal Government has allocated fertiliser worth over ₦450 million for sale to farmers in Jigawa State at subsidised rates, in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to boost food security and agricultural productivity.
Governor Malam Umar Namadi disclosed this during the Citizens’ Engagement Programme held in Miga Local Government Area, where he said the initiative underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting smallholder farmers with vital inputs and resources.
“Under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, the Federal Government has allocated 20 trucks of fertiliser to Jigawa State to be sold at subsidised rates to farmers,” Namadi said.
“This initiative aims to enhance food production, improve yields, and strengthen agricultural businesses across the state.”
The governor noted that Miga, being an agrarian area with vast arable land suitable for all-season farming, stands to benefit greatly from the scheme.
He explained that his administration’s 12-point agenda aligns with the Renewed Hope Vision, placing agriculture and food security at the core of Jigawa’s development priorities.
“To complement President Tinubu’s efforts, we have introduced several innovations to modernise and transform traditional farming into a mechanised system,” Namadi added.
He further announced the establishment of the Jigawa State Farm Service Mechanisation Company Limited, created to provide affordable and efficient mechanisation services to farmers across the state.
According to him, the company will operate through a network of service centres equipped with modern tractors, combine harvesters, and other agricultural machinery, while employing skilled and motivated personnel to manage them effectively.
Governor Namadi also commended the people of Miga for their warm reception and continued support, describing them as partners in progress.
As a gesture of appreciation, the community presented the governor with gifts, including bags of rice, fish, a ram, traditional calabashes, and a horse, in recognition of his administration’s contributions to the development of Miga Local Government Area.
