The Ohi of Okene, His Royal Highness Dr. Isah Mamman Okatahi, has dispelled speculations surrounding the recent visit of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to his palace, affirming that the visit had no political implication.

In a statement personally signed and issued to the media, the traditional ruler stated that the visit was purely a cultural and ceremonial courtesy—consistent with the customs of the land—and should not be misinterpreted as a political alignment.

“Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan paid a respectful visit to my palace on her way to a scheduled function at Abdul Aziz Attah Memorial College, Okene (AAAMCO), where she had been invited by the school authorities,” the monarch explained.

“As the Grand Patron of AAAMCO and custodian of tradition in Okene Metropolis, it was only proper that she paid homage in line with our cultural norms.”

HRH Okatahi noted that during the visit, he offered words of encouragement on the values of unity, respect for lawful authority, and the importance of prioritizing development over rivalry. He stressed that these remarks were in no way political, but reflections of his role as a father to all.

“What I offered was royal counsel rooted in our shared values—justice, peace, and the collective good of our people. It is necessary to correct any misrepresentation of that engagement,” the statement read.

Responding to insinuations that the visit implied political endorsement, the royal father described such interpretations as unfounded and misleading.

“The palace is above partisan politics. I do not serve political interests, but the cultural and moral wellbeing of the people of Okene and beyond. It is imperative to uphold the dignity and neutrality of our traditional institutions.”

He reaffirmed that the traditional throne remains a symbol of unity and integrity, committed to guiding all leaders—regardless of affiliation—toward actions that promote peace, equity, and development.

“I did not speak as a politician, but as a custodian of values and heritage. My concern is the progress of our land and the peaceful coexistence of all within it.”

The statement concludes with a reminder that traditional institutions play a vital role in preserving national harmony and must be shielded from unnecessary politicization.
