***Says the North Will Celebrate him if he becomes President
Peter Obi didn’t mince words on Sunday night. Sitting across from the anchor of Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, the 2027 presidential hopeful looked straight into the camera—and into the hearts of millions watching—and made a bold declaration:
“If I become President, the North will celebrate me.”
The crowd-favourite former governor and ex-presidential candidate under the Labour Party has now thrown his weight behind the newly strengthened opposition coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC). But it wasn’t party talk that took centre stage—it was his vision for Northern Nigeria.
“The North is Nigeria’s biggest asset,” Obi said passionately. “Nineteen states with rich, arable land. Resilient people. Massive voter strength. But what do we have instead? Insecurity, poverty, and unfulfilled potential.”

Obi didn’t hide his frustration with Nigeria’s political culture either. He challenged voters to reflect deeply ahead of the next election.
“We’ve voted for incompetence. We’ve voted for tribe. We’ve voted for religion. It’s time we vote for competence.”
According to Obi, Nigeria’s future lies in tapping into the wealth buried in the soil of the North—and tackling the insecurity that has kept farmers, investors, and families living in fear.
“The criminality we face in the North today, I will deal with it. I understand the problem. I have an idea of the solution,” he said with conviction.
Obi’s remarks struck a powerful chord, especially among viewers from the North, where his message of security, economic revival, and inclusive leadership resonated.
With 2027 drawing closer, the former Anambra State Governor is making it clear: he’s not just seeking votes—he’s promising transformation.
And if the energy from his latest appearance is any indication, Peter Obi is not just aiming for the presidency—he’s positioning himself as the leader who could finally bridge Nigeria’s divides and turn forgotten regions into frontiers of growth.
