***Expels 6 for examination malpractices, misconduct

The Academic Board of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, has approved the withdrawal of 273 students of the institution for woeful academic performance in the First Semester examination of the 2024/2025 Academic Session.

A statement signed by Uredo Omale, Director, Public Relations and Protocol of the Polytechnic, on Monday in Lokoja added that the Academic Board also approved the expulsion of six students for examination misconduct.
The statement said that the Board considered and approved the First Semester results for 2024/2025 Academic Session, with 273 students who performed below expectations being asked to withdraw.
According to the statement, the approval for withdrawal spreading across 20 Departments and 42 Programmes being run by the Polytechnic, was part of the far reaching decisions at the 120th meeting of the Board held at the Main Campus in Lokoja.
Prof. Salisu Ogbo Usman, Chairman of the Board and Rector of the institution, commended members of the Academic Board Result Verification Committee led by the Deputy Rector, Dr Samuel Taiwo Olowo.
He applauded the members for their due diligence on the results as he charged them to sustain the tempo.
The Chairman however expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of some students which led to their withdrawal, despite providing a conducive atmosphere for learning.
Prof. Ogbo Usman commended the Board’s Central Examination Misconduct Committee and those of Schools and Departments for a thorough job.
He also called for sustained synergy among the committees to enable them come up with decisive resolutions capable of sustaining the quality of teaching and learning in the Polytechnic.
The Board Chairman reassured the Polytechnic community of the Board and Management’s continued resolve to make reforms that would be of great benefits to institution.
The Rector, while commending the members for their continued support, seized the opportunity to encourage students to always take advantage of the conducive atmosphere for learning and be more focused.
Meanwhile, the affected students have been charged to submit all the Polytechnic properties in their custody including their Identity cards to the Security unit before exiting the institution. (Ends)
