Nigeria on the Brink: CRA Raises Alarm Over Terror Takeover of 80 Communities in Benue, Plateau

The Christian Rights Agenda (CRA) has issued a chilling warning: terror groups, believed to be aligned with ISWAP and Fulani militants, have seized control of at least 80 communities across Benue, Plateau, and parts of Borno State.
In a passionate statement released Sunday, CRA condemned what it described as a “coordinated campaign of terror and ethnic cleansing” that has left hundreds dead, thousands displaced, and entire communities wiped off the map.
“There is a deliberate, organized assault on Christian communities and other innocent Nigerians,” said Reverend Kallamu Musa Dikwa, Secretary-General of CRA. “We are witnessing a quiet genocide.”
Field reports from CRA operatives deployed to the hotspots confirm the scale of devastation: villages overrun, churches and schools burnt, farmlands seized, and survivors forced into refugee camps under horrific conditions.
Reverend Dikwa emphasized that the renewed violence is not random but systematic — with patterns that mirror previous ISWAP insurgencies — and warned that unless urgent action is taken, Nigeria risks losing large swathes of territory to extremist forces.
While acknowledging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent marching orders to security agencies, CRA insisted that words must now be matched with action. “It is no longer enough to issue commands from Abuja,” the group declared. “Field failures must be met with real consequences.”
The CRA also cautioned state governors against downplaying the scale of the crisis for political expediency. “This is not the time for half-truths. We must call this by its real name — terrorism and religious persecution.”
Calling for the immediate deployment of security forces and the declaration of a state of emergency in the worst-hit areas, CRA urged all Nigerians to wake up to the looming threat.
“If we fail to act decisively now,” the CRA warned, “the dream of a united, peaceful Nigeria could slip through our fingers forever.”
