In a continued effort to tackle the growing issue of water scarcity in Yobe State, renowned philanthropist Kashim Musa Tumsah has announced plans to launch another phase of water projects aimed at providing clean, potable water to underserved communities across the state.
The oil and gas lawyer and diplomat, in a recent post on his social media, shared his excitement about the new initiative which will focus on solar-powered boreholes — a step forward in the state’s ongoing battle against water shortage.
The announcement comes as part of Tumsah’s gratitude to Allah for allowing him to witness another birthday.
Tumsah, whose Light Up Yobe Initiative has already impacted many communities with solar water systems and streetlights, emphasized that this new phase of the initiative is designed to complement the efforts of Governor Mai Mala Buni’s administration in addressing the urgent need for water infrastructure in the state.
“In order to complement the commendable efforts of the Governor, and in expressing my gratitude to Almighty Allah for another birthday, my friends and I are calling on all Yobe state citizens to take part in the next phase of our water provision project,” Tumsah stated in his post.
The new water project will focus on indigent rural communities where water shortages are most severe. The communities eligible for these solar-powered boreholes will be selected through a nomination process. Tumsah has urged community members to nominate their villages or towns, particularly those facing the greatest water challenges.
“Communities will be selected based on the most nominations they receive, and local government headquarters are excluded from this phase of the initiative,” the post added. “This is aimed at reaching those who are most in need.”
The nomination period will run for two weeks, and Tumsah has also called on other well-meaning individuals both within and outside the state to contribute to this community-driven cause. His initiative encourages citizens to play their part in providing basic needs for their neighbors and helping to build a sustainable future.
Tumsah’s commitment to his home state continues to shine through in his actions, as he seeks to bring practical solutions to real-life problems and make a lasting impact on the lives of Yobe’s most vulnerable communities.
