The Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE), Delta State, will confer an Honorary Doctor of Engineering (Honoris Causa) on Chief Leemon Ikpea, the Founder and Chairman of Lee Engineering and Construction Company Limited, on March 15, 2025.
In a letter signed by the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Akpofure Rim, FUPRE acknowledged Chief Ikpea’s outstanding contributions to the oil and gas sector in Nigeria, particularly his commitment to the development of the Niger Delta.
Lee Engineering and Construction Company Limited recently celebrated 32 years of excellence. Speaking on the company’s legacy, Chief Ikpea emphasized the core values that have driven its success:

Recognizing his impact on the industry, the Senate Committee on Gas also commended Chief Ikpea in a formal letter, highlighting his substantial investments in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector. The committee stated:
“Following our investigation, we found no infractions associated with your company. We commend your patriotism and pledge our support in your efforts to add value and create wealth for the nation.”
This prestigious recognition from both the academic and legislative sectors solidifies Chief Ikpea’s legacy as a visionary leader in Nigeria’s engineering and energy industries.
