Police Nab Burglars in Akwa Ibom, Recover Stolen Goods Worth Millions
The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested two suspects, Moses Godwill Ndiong and Abraham Udo, in connection with a burglary that occurred in Okpokpong, Eket Local Government Area.
The arrest followed a swift response to credible information from a vigilant citizen.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, the burglary was reported on January 20, 2025, at around 4:00 am. Acting promptly, the Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, dispatched a team to investigate.
The suspects confessed to the crime during interrogation, leading to the recovery of the following stolen items, A 65″ LG Smart TV, 2900 SUMEC Generator, 42″ LG LED TV, 32″ LG LED TV and a Sony Home Theater System.
Others are a Toyota Camry car with registration number KY984EKY, Six pairs of shoes, Electrical cables and Cutter and pliers used in the burglary
The police commended the vigilant citizen whose tip-off facilitated the quick arrest and recovery of the stolen items.
“This case underscores the importance of community collaboration in combating crime,” DSP John stated, adding that investigations are ongoing to uncover any accomplices or related crimes.
The Commissioner of Police assured the public of the command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents in the state.
The suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
Residents are encouraged to report suspicious activities to the police to aid in maintaining law and order.

He assured that under his leadership, the Akwa Ibom Police Command will maintain an open-door policy, welcoming community-driven intelligence, suggestions, and support to strengthen law enforcement efforts.
In his response, His Eminence, Oku Ibom Ibibio, commended CP Azare’s proactive leadership since assuming office.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the traditional rulers’ council to partnering with law enforcement, noting that sustaining peace and security remains a collective goal.
“We acknowledge your dedication to keeping Akwa Ibom the safest state in the country. The traditional institution will continue to support and collaborate with the Police to ensure our communities remain secure,” he assured.

Crackdown in Akwa Ibom: Police Dismantle Crime Networks, Issue Final Warning
The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has intensified its war against crime, making multiple arrests and sending a strong message to criminals operating in the state.
During a press briefing at the Command Headquarters, Police Public Relations Officer DSP Timfon John detailed a series of successful raids that led to the arrest of burglars, drug dealers, cultists, child traffickers, and car thieves.
In a major breakthrough, a child trafficking syndicate was exposed after a woman confessed to selling her own child and later conspiring to kidnap another.
Similarly, suspected drug dealers were caught with Indian hemp, cocaine, and synthetic drugs, while a notorious cultist was arrested with illicit substances.
The police also recovered stolen electronics, luxury items, and a stolen tricycle, dealing a major blow to crime syndicates across the state.
Declaring Akwa Ibom a hostile zone for criminals, DSP John warned: “Your days are numbered. Reform or leave, because the police will find you.”

Hotels in Akwa Ibom on Police Radar: CP Azare Declares War on Criminal Hideouts
In a bold move to clamp down on crime, the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police (CP), Baba Mohammed Azare, has issued a strong warning to hotel owners and managers across the state: harbor criminals, and your establishment could face immediate closure.
Speaking during a high-level meeting with hospitality industry stakeholders at the Police Headquarters in Uyo on Monday, CP Azare revealed that some hotels are becoming operational hubs for criminal elements, posing a threat to the state’s peace and security.

“We have intelligence reports that criminals are using hotels as safe havens. Any establishment found aiding or abetting such activities will be raided and temporarily shut down for investigations,” the CP said.
The meeting brought together leaders from the Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN), Nigeria Hotels Association (NHA), and other hospitality bodies.
CP Azare emphasized the importance of maintaining accurate guest records, monitoring activities, and promptly reporting suspicious behavior to law enforcement.
He also called for early intervention, urging hoteliers to act immediately when they notice anything unusual rather than waiting until crimes are committed. “Security is a collective responsibility, and your cooperation is crucial to keeping Akwa Ibom safe,” he added.
President of the Hotels Owners Association, Mr. Daniel Udoh,
commended the Police Commissioner’s proactive stance and pledged the sector’s full cooperation.
“We will implement measures to enhance security in our establishments and ensure that hotels are not used as hideouts for criminals,” Udoh assured.
He also applauded the CP for engaging stakeholders in dialogue, describing the partnership as a step forward in protecting the state’s reputation as one of Nigeria’s safest destinations.
This crackdown comes as part of CP Azare’s broader strategy to maintain Akwa Ibom’s peace and security.
