Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, has signed the state’s 2025 budget of N689.3 billion into law, setting the stage for what he describes as an unprecedented push for infrastructural development.

Speaking during the signing ceremony at the council chamber in Dutse Government House, Governor Namadi hailed the budget as the largest in Jigawa’s history and a bold step towards transforming the state’s economy.

The 2025 appropriation bill prioritizes capital expenditures, with 76 percent earmarked for infrastructure and development projects. This allocation, the governor emphasized, underscores his administration’s commitment to bridging development gaps and improving public services.

“Today marks another milestone in our journey to make Jigawa greater,” Namadi said.
“This budget reflects our ambition and focus on progress, especially with over 70 percent dedicated to capital projects.”

Analysts have interpreted the budget as a deliberate move to address critical areas such as roads, healthcare facilities, education, and water supply systems—sectors that have long required significant investment in the state.

Governor Namadi commended the State House of Assembly for swiftly passing the appropriation bill, describing their cooperation as a sign of synergy between the executive and legislative arms of government.

“This collaboration is crucial for effective governance,” he added, urging sustained partnerships to ensure the successful implementation of the budget and delivery of democracy dividends to the people.

Observers say the budget’s size and focus on infrastructure place Jigawa among the states to watch in 2025, as the government aims to stimulate economic growth and create jobs through large-scale projects.

The 2025 budget also signals a push for enhanced revenue generation to sustain the state’s development agenda. Governor Namadi hinted at plans to strengthen the state’s internally generated revenue (IGR) while leveraging partnerships to attract foreign and local investments.

With this historic budget, Jigawa is poised to redefine its developmental trajectory, setting ambitious targets for growth and prosperity in the coming year.
