The Jigawa State House of Assembly has approved a groundbreaking 2025 Appropriation Bill, passing a total budget of N698.3 billion for the state and N184.4 billion for its 27 local government councils.

Presenting the budget report, Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, Hon. Hamza Ibrahim, emphasized that the initial budget proposal submitted by Governor Malam Umar Namadi remained intact, reflecting a strong commitment to fiscal responsibility and development.

The approved budget allocates N90.7 billion for personnel costs, N70.2 billion for recurrent expenditures, and a significant N537.4 billion for capital development programs aimed at infrastructure growth and social services.

The committee also recommended a 17% pension contribution provision for local government workers and allocations for primary healthcare and basic education, ensuring grassroots development.

Speaker Haruna Aliyu described the budget as a blueprint for delivering people-centered projects that will transform Jigawa’s economic and social landscape, pending the governor’s assent.

Governor Umar Namadi had initially presented the proposal on December 9, setting the tone for an ambitious fiscal year focused on growth and inclusivity.

This budget is a decisive step toward sustainable development, prioritizing education, healthcare, and infrastructure across the state.
