Rano LG Chair Pledges to Prioritize Security, Community Development at Swearing-In Ceremony

The newly elected Chairman of Rano Local Government, Alh. Muhammad Naziru Yau, has made a strong commitment to enhancing security, supporting youth empowerment, and promoting women’s development.
His remarks came during the swearing-in ceremony for ten councilors and the vice chairman held at the Rano Local Government Secretariat.

Addressing a crowd of officials and community members, Chairman Yau outlined his vision for a safer, more inclusive Rano, vowing to collaborate closely with local security agencies to safeguard lives and property.
He emphasized that supporting youth and women is essential for the community’s growth, pledging resources and programs aimed at the groups.

The event received significant backing from key figures, including Hon. Ibrahim Malami, who represents Rano in the State House of Assembly, and Commissioner for Women Affairs Haj. Aisha Lawan Saji.
Both officials urged the new council to initiate projects that align with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s vision for statewide development, stressing the importance of community-driven progress.

In a formal ceremony, Magistrate Hasiya Mukhtar Ismail administered the oath of office on Vice Chairman Hon. Tukur Muhammad and councilors representing various wards, including Ibrahim Maaruf (Rano Central Ward), Sani Ismail (Rano Dawakin Ward), Muhd Haruna (Zinyau Ward), Inusa Hashim (Zurgu Ward), Ahmad Jibrin (Yalwa Ward), Lawan Usaini (Rurum Tsohon Gari), and Sabo A. Dauda (Saji Ward), among others.

Expressing his support, the Emir of Rano, Ambassador Dr. Muhammad Isa Umaru, represented by Khalid Uba Wakili, affirmed his willingness to guide the newly elected officials in their duties.

The new leadership’s focus on security, youth empowerment, and women’s development reflects a growing commitment to community advancement and local prosperity in Rano Local Government.

The Executive Chairman of Rano Local Government, Hon. Muhammad Ñaziru Yau, has officially sworn in the newly appointed Local Government Secretary, Supervisory Councilors, and Advisers, urging them to prioritize hard work, transparency, and accountability in their roles.

During the swearing-in ceremony, held on Wednesday, Hon. Yau highlighted the importance of the event, calling it a pivotal moment in his administration’s efforts to improve governance and promote development in the region. He charged the appointees with the responsibility of ensuring excellence in governance and service delivery for the betterment of Rano Local Government.
Zonal Information Officer, Rano Local Government, Rabiu Khalil Kura in a statement on Wednesday quoted the chairman to have said,
“I urge you to take your responsibilities seriously,” Hon. Yau said. “You must work with dedication, transparency, accountability, and inclusivity as we strive to make Rano Local Government a model of excellence.”

The newly sworn-in officials include Ismail Yusuf, who has been appointed as the Local Government Secretary, and Supervisory Councillors such as Lawan Usman, Kabiru Yusuf, Lawan Hamza, Haruna Muhd, Babangida Abubakar, Abbas Dabo, Dalha Shehu, and others.

In his address, the Director of Personnel Management, Tijjani Saadu, pledged full support from the council staff to help the new appointees achieve the administration’s goals.

On behalf of the appointees, Ismail Yusuf, the newly sworn-in Secretary, assured the council and the people of Rano that the team would leverage their experience and work tirelessly to drive the council’s growth and progress.

Kano was the epicenter of political and cultural significance on Saturday as high-profile dignitaries, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and Vice President Kashim Shettima, gathered for the wedding Fatiha of the daughter of former Kano State Governor and NNPP leader, Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
The grand ceremony, held at the historic palace of Emir Muhammad Sanusi II, attracted a remarkable array of influential figures from across Nigeria and neighboring nations.

The wedding marked a unique moment, bringing together leaders from different political backgrounds and ideologies in a unified celebration of culture.
The bride’s father, Kwankwaso, stood alongside the groom’s father, renowned businessman Dahiru Mangal, as well as Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and Deputy Governor Aminu Abdusalam Gwarzo, underscoring the event’s significance.

In a show of loyalty, thousands of Kwankwasiyya movement members, recognizable by their red caps and attire, filled the venue, adding vibrancy and solidarity to the celebration.

Rano Local Government Council Rejects Hon. Rurum’s Statements against NNPP

The Rano Local Government Legislative Council has formally dissociated itself from recent remarks by Hon. Kabiru Alasan Rurum, the federal representative for Rano/Kibiya/Bunkure, following his controversial statements against the NNPP Kwankwasiyya movement.
This was contained in a statement by Zonal Information Officer, Rano Local Government Rabiu Khalil Kura which was made available to the National Update on Tuesday.
According to the statement during a legislative session on Monday, Hon. Lawan Usaini raised an urgent motion addressing Rurum’s comments, urging the Council to take a stand.
The motion also highlighted concerns over Rurum’s condemnation of NNPP Kwankwasiyya .
The motion, which received unanimous backing, called on Rurum to focus on supporting the state’s leadership in addressing pressing local challenges, including economic issues and policies impacting Kano State.

House Leader Rt. Hon. Ahmad Abdullahi Jibrin declared that Rurum’s opinions do not reflect the stance of Rano’s residents or NNPP allies in the area. Emphasizing loyalty to Eng. Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, the Council reinforced its dedication to unity, progress, and the well-being of Kano State’s citizens.
The Council’s position is a clear message of unity and commitment to the development and progress of Kano State.
