Senator Shehu Sani who represented Kaduna central senatorial district in the 8th national Assembly has underscored the importance of girl child education as a cornerstone for nation-building, as he launched a non-governmental organization called Access to Education and Health Centre dring a ceremony in Abuja.
This is happening as Sani presented educational materials, toiletries, and other essentials worth millions of naira to four schools in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Sani, represented by the NGO’s Program Officer, Halima Halidu Sani, expressed concern over the more than 7 million Nigerian girls currently out of school.

He called for immediate action from both the government and private sector, stating that the education of girls must become a national priority to rebuild the country.

The former lawmaker noted that Nigeria lags behind not just in Africa but across the West African sub-region in girl child education. He urged wealthier Nigerians to invest in this cause, emphasizing that relying solely on government efforts would not suffice in the 21st century.
Sani’s NGO splans to champion the education of girls at primary, secondary, and tertiary levels, believing that educating girls is essential for building a strong and stable society.

In his remarks, Sani referred to female leaders like Benazir Bhutto and Indira Gandhi, asserting that educated women have historically made significant contributions to society.
The beneficiary schools – Government Girls Secondary Schools in Kuje, Abaji, Garki, and Dutse – expressed their gratitude for the donations, with the principals praising Sani for his commitment to the cause, even after leaving public office.

The principals acknowledged that Sani’s NGO was making a real difference for their students, and emphasized the positive impact of his dedication to education and empowerment.
