The Kogi Collectives (KC), a leading socio-cultural organization, has extended congratulations to Governor Usman Ododo following the Supreme Court’s ruling that affirmed his election as the Governor of Kogi State.
In a statement issued yesterday in Lokoja, the Kogi Collectives described the Supreme Court’s decision as a reflection of the will of the people, who overwhelmingly supported Governor Ododo at the polls. The group, led by Hon. Philip Olusesan Orebiyi and Mr. Segun Arogboni, represents various ethnic and religious communities within the state.
Members of the Kogi Collectives who attended the meeting, including Barr. Yetunde Shuaibu, Mr. Kamal Toyin, Mr. Femi Irojah, Mr. Samuel Jemituwi, Mrs. Janet Zubair, Mr. Ayobami Omoniwa, Mrs. Mary Alabi, and Comrade Eniola Olayemi, expressed their confidence that Governor Ododo can now proceed with implementing his administration’s agenda without the hindrance of legal battles.
“We encourage Governor Ododo to govern as a leader for all by ensuring that the benefits of democracy are equitably shared across Kogi State,” the statement emphasized. “It is essential that every part of the state is involved in the developmental process, with fair representation in project allocations and key government appointments.”
The Kogi Collectives also urged Governor Ododo to show magnanimity in victory by reaching out to his political rivals. They highlighted that extending an olive branch to opponents not only reflects strength of character but also fosters unity and stability within the state.
Furthermore, the group acknowledged the foundational work done by the outgoing governor, Yahaya Bello, and encouraged Governor Ododo to build on this legacy to continue advancing the state’s development. They also called on the citizens of Kogi State to support the new administration, ensuring that its goals are achieved for the collective benefit of all.
