Former Jigawa state governor, Sule Lamido has raised issues over the whooping N5m and N2m fixed as fee to contest for the chairmanship and councillorship positions respectively in the rescheduled Jigawa state local government elections.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stalwarts raised the concern in a statement he posted on his Facebook wall insisting that the sum of B5m and N2m as fee for chairmanship and Ciuncillorship candidates respectively to participate in the October local government council elections in the state is outrageous

Lamido who is a former Foreign Affairs minister noted that “APC controlled government of Jigawa State has already won all the Chairmanship seats in the 27 Local Government Area councils and the 287 Councilorship seats in the yet to be conducted local government elections throughout the State”.

According to him “The reason being that no opposition Party will be able to pay the N5m for the Chairmanship and N2m for the Councilorship nomination forms from the State electoral commission”.

He added that “While other States are engaged in protests over hunger and poverty, Jigawa should be congratulated for portraying itself as the most prosperous State in Nigeria”.

When contacted through his mobile phone, the chairman Jigawa state Independent Electoral Commission (JISEC), Alhaji Auwalu Harbor, said he would not be able to entertain any question as he is at his village over an issue.
