The Senate has approved the appointment of Dr. Aminu Maida as the Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

This approval came after the presentation of a report of the Senate Committee on Communications on the screening of the nominee during Thursday’s plenary.

Following from the screening conducted on Wednesday, the committee chaired by Senator Aliyu Bilbis (PDP, Zamfara Central), noted that from records, Maida was the man suitable for the job.

Prior to his appointment by President Bola Tinubu as the new Executive Vice Chairman of NCC, Maida had served as the Executive Director, Technology and Operations at Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System Plc.

He also has over 15 years of multi-functional and international experience in FinTech & Telecoms & Enterprise Technology.

Maida takes over from Umar Garba Danbatta, who held the office from 2015 to 2023.
