After months of intense campaigning and political maneuvering, Ondo State residents have chosen Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as their governor for the next four years.
The declaration was made by the Returning Officer, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi, Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Lokoja, at the INEC collation center in Akure.

Aiyedatiwa, the incumbent governor of Ondo State, secured a commanding victory with 366,781 votes, outpacing his closest competitor, Ajayi Agboola of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 117,845 votes.
This result marks a significant lead for the APC candidate, winning by a margin of over 200,000 votes and sweeping all 18 local government areas.

“That Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of the APC, having satisfied the requirement of the law, is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected,” Akinwumi announced at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, following an overnight collation of results.

Aiyedatiwa, who first assumed office on December 27, 2023, following the death of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, will now continue leading the state. His re-election represents a resounding endorsement from Ondo’s residents, who have entrusted him with another term to further the progress and stability of the Sunshine State.
