Former Senate Majority Leader and Senator representing Borno South, Mohammed Ali Ndume, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s decision to appoint Daniel Bwala as Special Adviser on Public Communications and Media. Ndume highlighted Tinubu’s inclusiveness in leadership, pointing out that Bwala had served as the spokesperson for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar during the 2023 presidential campaign.

“President Tinubu’s appointment of Daniel Bwala is commendable, demonstrating a rare quality of large-hearted leadership, particularly in view of Bwala’s prior stance,” Ndume stated, adding that such openness is a rare trait among today’s leaders.

Addressing Bwala’s history with the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ndume encouraged Bwala to build a strong working relationship with Vice President Kashim Shettima, whose appointment initially led to Bwala’s departure from the APC. He advised Bwala to align with Shettima and other senior advisers to champion the “Renewed Hope” agenda of Tinubu’s administration.

Ndume further advised Bwala to draw lessons from seasoned advisers like Sunday Dare, Bayo Onanuga, Hadiza Bala, and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu. He noted that these allies consistently defend the President’s policies with “facts and balance,” promoting Tinubu’s vision without resorting to abrasive rhetoric.

Emphasizing the importance of local engagement, Ndume encouraged Bwala to connect with grassroots communities, reminding him that “charity begins at home.” Concluding, Ndume expressed confidence in Bwala’s ability to make a positive impact in his new role, describing the appointment as a testament to Tinubu’s commitment to a broad, inclusive leadership style.
