Nigeria consolidates global ties to boost Food Security

The Federal Government has kickstarted a strategic partnership with the World Food Programme (WFP) in a bid to enhance food security and agricultural productivity.

The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, made this known during a meeting with a high-level delegation from WFP, led by the newly appointed Regional Director, Mr. Chris Nikoi, in Abuja.

The visit by the newly appointed WFP Regional Director, Mr. Chris Nikoi, to Abuja, the minister said marked the beginning of a collaborative effort to strengthen Nigeria’s agricultural sector.

According to the statement the partnership aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, prioritizing food security and agricultural development.”

With WFP’s expertise and resources, Nigeria target it to improve food production, reduce hunger and malnutrition, and achieve sustainable agricultural growth.

The global partnership the statement said underscores Nigeria’s commitment to ensuring food security and promoting economic development.
