Tinubu, Buhari, Kwankwaso mourn Islamic Preacher, Sheikh Abubakar Giro Argungu
President Bola Tinubu, his predecessor, Muhammadu Buhari and the Presidential candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) in the 2023 general election Rabiu MusaKwankwaso have sent their condolences and sympathy to the family, followers and associates of the prominent Islamic preacher, Sheikh Abubakar Giro Argungu, who passed away on Wednesday.
President Tinubu in his message described the death of the religious leader as a loss which reverberates beyond the late preacher’s immediate community, and as one that affects the entire country, in view of his contributions to the canon of islamic study and his renowned calls for moral rectitude.
“The voice of Sheikh Giro Argungu will long be remembered for his years of Islamic propagation and advocacy for righteousness. The activities of the cleric through the Islamic group, JIBWIS, where he had served as the Working Committee Chairman, has contributed immensely in guiding a large flock of Muslim youths over the years,” he said.

Former President Muhammadu Buhari on his part offered his condolences describing Giro’s passing away as a major loss for Nigeria and the Muslim world as a whole, according to a statement by Garba Shehu, his media aide.
Buhari also sent his condolences to the family and admirers of the deceased, the statement said.
“Sheikh Giro was a towering figure in our national life. Throughout his life, he stood for Islamic values and demonstrated his commitment to good society through his utterances and his actions. May Allah repose his soul and grant him Jannatul-Firdaus, ” the statement quoted Buhari as saying.
Kwankwaso said, “I’m saddened by the death of Sheikh Abubakar Giro Arugungu, who has been laid to rest.
“We shall not forget Sheikh Giro’s indelible legacy in Islamic propagation and peace building.
May the Almighty Allah grant him Jannatul Fidaus.
“I extend my deepest condolences to his family, the Muslim community, and the ‘government and people of Kebbi State. – RMK.
The Islamic scholar died on Wednesday in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, after a brief illness.
His death was announced on his family on Wednesday.
The deceased was a preacher under the Jama’atul Izalatul Bidi’a Wa’iqamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS).
The deceased, who was aged 71 died on Wednesday at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Birnin Kebbi.
He is survived by four wives, many children and grand children.
