Address injustice, inequality to end insecurity, Hon Kawu Sumaila
From Ahmad Muhd, Kano
The former Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on House of Representatives Matters, Hon Abdulrahaman Kawu Sumaila, urged the Federal Government to address inequality, social injustice, marginalisation to end insecurity in the county.
Addressing party supporters during a correspondents chapel dialogue series in kano yesterday, Sumaila, said government must ensure social justice for all citizens.
Sumaila who is contesting for the Kano South Senatorial seat on the platform of New Nigerian People’s party (NNPP) said the numerous agitations in the country is blamed on social injustice and inequality.
According to him, some of the agitators especially those from the South East, complained of marginalisation and non-inclusiveness, which informed their decision to clamour for secession.
“Government must Reach out to the agitators, discuss with them and find out their grievances. Reach a compromise with them, toward amicably addressing their demands for peace to reign, rather than ignoring them.”
The former presidential assistant who expressed optimism that, he will defeat the incumbent Senator Ibrahim KabIru Gaya, said that, for his 16 years sojourn in the Senate, Gaya has never held any town hall meeting with his immediate constituents.
“It is regrettable that Senator Gaya only reaches out to members of his constituents, during election period, so as to garner their votes to recapture his seat in the Kano South Senatorial District, comprising 16 of the 44 Local Government areas of Kano State”
“The power of incumbency is inconsequential, it will not save you to retain the Senate seat in the 2023 Senatorial race.”
